In a troubling revelation, two former students from Centreville High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, have alleged that school officials orchestrated and financed their abortions without parental consent.
This claim, if substantiated, would represent a blatant violation of Virginia's parental-notification statute. The allegations have been brought to light through a series of letters, audio recordings, and other documents provided by the students, as reported by conservative journalist Walter Curt.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, the incidents involve one student who underwent an abortion in 2021 at the age of 17, and another who was five months pregnant and reportedly desperate to keep her child. Curt's Substack report includes a handwritten statement from the first student, detailing how school social worker Carolina Daz arranged her appointment at the Fairfax Healthcare Center and covered the abortion costs.
Furthermore, Daz allegedly informed the second student that she "had no other choice" but to proceed with the abortion. The report also implicates school principal Chad Lehman, suggesting he was aware of these actions, which were allegedly funded by taxpayers.
The Fairfax County Public Schools system has previously faced criticism for policies perceived as infringing on student and parental rights. In 2022, the school board approved measures to suspend students from fourth grade onward for "misgendering" peers who identify as transgender.
Additionally, the district barred educators from informing parents when young students claimed to have changed their gender identity at school. The Washington Free Beacon highlighted that teachers were required to complete "Supporting Gender-Expansive and Transgender Youth" training, irrespective of their personal beliefs.
In response to Curt's report, Fairfax County Public Schools have contested the allegations but announced an "immediate and comprehensive investigation" into the matter, as reported by 7News. The school district emphasized its commitment to addressing any concerns related to student wellbeing.
Curt, in his social media commentary, expressed outrage over the alleged actions of school officials, questioning the potential scale of such incidents. "If there are two documented cases, how many more girls were funneled through this off-books pipeline?" he asked.
Curt further criticized the situation, stating, "This isn't an abortion debateit's state-sponsored child coercion and a flashing red siren for parental rights." He argued that Fairfax County's bureaucrats bypassed law enforcement, the judiciary, and parents to pressure vulnerable teenagers into undergoing abortions, calling for a criminal investigation into the officials involved.
