Howard Stern's tenure on SiriusXM may be drawing to a close, as multiple media outlets suggest his radio show could be discontinued later this year.
The Sun newspaper reports that SiriusXM is not planning to renew Stern's lucrative $100 million contract, which is set to expire in the coming months.
According to Gateway Pundit, an insider revealed, "Sterns contract is up in the fall and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they dont intend for him to take it." The source elaborated on the financial impasse, stating, "Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. Its no longer worth the investment."
This suggests that the satellite radio giant is unwilling to meet Stern's financial demands, potentially signaling the end of his five-year contract. The insider also hinted at the possibility of Sirius acquiring Stern's extensive library, noting, "But as far as him coming back to doing the show, theres no way they can keep paying his salary."
Mail Online echoes these sentiments, reporting that the show is in "jeopardy" and that the partnership between Stern and SiriusXM is likely nearing its conclusion. The insider mentioned the possibility of a short-term contract, stating, "He may do a 1-2 year contract if they can meet him where he wants financially. He doesnt want to pull the plug on his employees like this."
Another source indicated that Stern is contemplating "parting ways" with SiriusXM, with his team of approximately 95 writers and producers only recently learning of the uncertainty surrounding the show's future. The source added that Stern "will likely sell his catalogue of shows to replay" on his uncensored channels, Howard 100 and Howard 101.
Stern, known for his controversial persona, has frequently used his platform to criticize President Trump and his supporters. Last year, Stern openly expressed disdain for Trump voters, stating, "I dont hate Trump. I hate the people who vote for him. I think they are stupid. I do. I have no respect for them."
Despite this, President Trump was once a frequent guest on Stern's show, appearing around 20 times. Reflecting on their past interactions, Trump remarked, "I was on Howard Sterns show as much as anybody," adding, "And he was great at that time. And then he went woke." Trump further commented on Stern's shift in approach, noting, "Since hes gone woke, his ratings have gone down the tubes."
