Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, did not mince words when addressing the growing trend of Gen Z voters gravitating towards socialist candidates, such as New York City's radical mayoral contender, Zohran Mamdani.
During an appearance on Fox Business, Portnoy shared his candid thoughts with host Stuart Varney, who pointed out that figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Mamdani represent the future of the Democratic Party.
According to Gateway Pundit, Varney presented a clip showcasing Gen Z voters praising socialism, with one individual stating, "I think more politicians should be adopting socialism."
When prompted for his reaction, Portnoy expressed his disdain, saying, "Blahhhh..makes me want to puke, Stuart. Thats how I feel about that." He went on to criticize the lack of real-world experience among these young voters, suggesting that they have been sheltered and are unfamiliar with the realities of the workforce.
Portnoy articulated his opposition to any government system that discourages hard work and initiative, which he believes socialism inherently does. He emphasized the role of entrepreneurs in creating jobs and providing livelihoods, stating, "Im all for taking care of people and trying to give back, but what entrepreneurs do is they create jobs. They create livings. They create wages." He further argued that socialism has consistently failed, citing numerous historical examples.
Portnoy expressed skepticism towards young individuals who, in his view, lack the life experience necessary to lecture others on global affairs. He remarked, "I just fundamentally have a hard time with a 19 or 20-year-old whos never had a day...I just cant have somebody whos been alive for five seconds lecturing me on the ways of the world."
His comments reflect a broader conservative critique of socialism, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility and economic freedom.
