Building Americas Future (BAF), a political action committee with financial backing from billionaire Elon Musk, is allocating over $1 million to advocate for the President's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," a piece of legislation Musk had previously criticized, as reported by Politico on Monday.
According to the Daily Caller, the PAC's advertisement, titled "Independence," is set to premiere on Fox News. This ad will highlight President Donald Trump's signing of his hallmark megabill into law on July 4. Musk, despite his past criticisms, has been a significant donor to BAF, contributing substantial amounts to the committee.
The ad will proclaim, This Independence Day, President Trump and Congress made the working family tax cuts law, emphasizing the elimination of taxes on tips and overtime, the doubling of the child tax credit, and tax reductions for seniors. It further asserts, Republicans know that our country is better off when working families keep more of what they earn. Now, they will.
Musk's previous stance on the bill was far from supportive, having labeled Trump's extensive tax and immigration legislation as "outrageous" and a "disgusting abomination." In June, he even pledged to support primary challengers against Republican lawmakers who endorsed the bill.
Following the enactment of Trump's spending bill, Musk announced on July 5 the formation of a new political entity, the "America Party." President Trump dismissed this initiative as "ridiculous," remarking that "starting a third party just adds to the confusion."
Generra Peck, a senior advisor to BAF, expressed to Politico, President Trump, [Senate Majority] Leader John Thune, and [House] Speaker Mike Johnson all showed tremendous strength and vision to get historic tax cuts for working families across the finish line this summer, and their remarkable achievement will put America on a path to prosperity for years to come.
Peck further emphasized BAF's pride in aligning with an administration and GOP Congress committed to fostering a brighter future for America.
The unfolding dynamics between Musk's financial support for BAF and his vocal criticism of the bill underscore the complexities of political alliances and the influence of high-profile figures in shaping legislative outcomes.
