DC Legal Board Sets Sights On Trump Admin Official

The D.C. Bar has taken a significant step by recommending the disbarment of Jeffrey Clark, citing "dishonesty" related to his legal advice concerning the 2020 presidential election.

Clark, who currently holds a prominent position overseeing regulatory review at the White House Office of Management and Budget, faces this recommendation as a consequence of his actions. The D.C. Bar Board on Professional Responsibility emphasized the need for disbarment to serve as a deterrent, stating, "as a consequence and to send a message to the rest of the Bar and to the public that this behavior will not be tolerated."

As reported by the Western Journal, the board's findings indicate that Clark, who was part of the Department of Justice during President Trump's administration, attempted to propagate "intentionally false statements" in a draft letter. This letter suggested that there had been significant fraud affecting the outcome of the 2020 election.

The board's report elaborated, "While dishonesty is always intolerable, the facts here are significantly aggravating to warrant disbarment: Respondent was prepared to cause the Justice Department to tell a lie about the status of its investigation of an important national issue (the integrity of the 2020 Presidential election)."

The board underscored that legal professionals must not advocate for outcomes based on falsehoods, nor should they encourage others to do so.

The ultimate decision on whether to disbar Clark rests with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Meanwhile, Rachel Cauley, the communications director for the Office of Management and Budget, expressed strong criticism of the D.C. Bar's actions. In a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation, she remarked, "The D.C. Bar, which still counts Kevin Clinesmith who lied to the FISA Court as a member in good standing, is a disgrace."

Cauley further characterized the recommendation as part of a broader campaign against President Trump and his allies, stating, "This latest injustice is just another chapter in the deep states ongoing assault on President Trump and those who stood beside him in defense of the truth."

Cauley defended Clark, asserting that he has faced undue harassment and persecution for questioning the integrity of the 2020 election and for his service to President Trump. "Jeff Clark has been harassed, raided, doxed, and blacklisted simply for questioning a rigged election and serving President Trump," she said.

Despite these challenges, Cauley maintained that Clark remains steadfast in his pursuit of truth and justice, adding, "Despite the relentless political persecution, Jeff continues to be vindicated as more irregularities regarding the 2020 election are uncovered. He will not stop fighting for the truth and for America."

The board acknowledged the absence of directly comparable disciplinary cases, noting, "But that is not surprising given the underlying facts. In making this recommendation, we are mindful of the need to maintain the integrity of the legal profession and deter the respondent and other attorneys from engaging in similar misconduct."
