ABC's daytime talk show, The View, has long been a platform for lively debate, yet recent analysis suggests a stark absence of conservative voices among its guests.
A study conducted by NewsBusters reveals that throughout the 2025 season, which began on January 6 and paused for summer on July 25, the show exclusively featured guests with left-leaning perspectives, leaving conservative viewpoints conspicuously absent.
According to Gateway Pundit, NewsBusters meticulously reviewed each episode of The View's 2025 season. Their findings indicate that all 102 guests invited to discuss political matters during this period were aligned with liberal ideologies.
This pattern of exclusion extends back to the entirety of the 2024 season, where no right-leaning guests were featured either. The study highlights a significant deviation from the show's original intent to present a diverse array of opinions.
The roster of left-leaning guests included 19 Democratic politicians, such as Senators Tammy Duckworth, John Fetterman, and Elizabeth Warren, as well as Governors Gretchen Whitmer and JB Pritzker. Other notable figures included former President Joe Biden, former First Lady Jill Biden, and Hollywood personalities like Mark Hamill, known for his outspoken criticism of President Trump.
NewsBusters clarified their methodology, stating, "For a guest to be counted as either liberal or conservative, they needed to express such views during their appearance on The View."
The absence of conservative voices on The View has not gone unnoticed. During a segment on Fox & Friends, Ainsley Earhardt remarked, So The View only has one view? Her co-host, Brian Kilmeade, echoed this sentiment, describing the study's findings as the least surprising stat ever.
Kilmeade reminisced about the show's origins, noting that it was initially conceived by Barbara Walters to foster unscripted political discourse and reflect the conversations women have when together. He lamented, "Then what happened? It ends up being an angry Democratic show."
This apparent shift in The View's guest lineup raises questions about the show's commitment to its founding principle of showcasing a broad spectrum of political opinions. As the program prepares to return for its 29th season in September, the absence of conservative voices remains a point of contention.
The lack of ideological diversity among guests may contribute to a perception of bias, potentially alienating viewers who seek balanced discourse. As the media landscape continues to evolve, the importance of representing diverse perspectives in public forums becomes increasingly critical.
