During a recent segment on Newsmax TV's "Finnerty," U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee offered a pointed critique of French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to recognize a Palestinian state.
Huckabee dismissed Macron's announcement as "pretty silly," drawing a parallel to a hypothetical scenario where the United Kingdom might attempt to assert authority over French territory.
As reported by Breitbart, host Rob Finnerty posed a question to Huckabee regarding France's recognition of a Palestinian government, which he noted is "run by a terrorist organization." This move marks France as the first G7 nation to take such a step.
Huckabee's response was unequivocal: "What a ridiculous thing for France to come out and just make this unilateral declaration that theyre going to have a Palestinian state because they said so. What if Britain were to say, you know what, were going to declare France a colony?"
Huckabee further elaborated on his stance, suggesting that if Macron is truly committed to the idea of a Palestinian state, he should consider offering a portion of the French Riviera for its establishment. "Or heres one: If Macron really thinks that there ought to be a Palestinian state, he didnt necessarily say where it should be. Id suggest, lets take a strip of the French Riviera, put it there, and then we can call it Franc-einstein," he quipped.
The ambassador's remarks underscore a broader conservative perspective that questions the wisdom of recognizing a Palestinian state under current conditions, particularly given concerns about governance and security. This perspective aligns with a cautious approach to international diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of stability and strategic alliances.
