Ex-Voice Of America Employee Targets Marjorie Taylor Greene With Murder Plot

A former Voice of America employee has been apprehended and charged with making persistent threats against Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, and her family over a span of more than 15 months.

The U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Columbia announced on Thursday that 64-year-old Seth Jason was taken into custody by U.S. Capitol Police in collaboration with the Anne Arundel Police Department. Jason faces charges including "influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing a federal official by threat, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure, and anonymous telecommunications harassment."

As reported by American Military News, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro detailed that Jason, who previously worked for the government-funded Voice of America, engaged in a campaign of threats against Greene and her family from October 2023 to January 2025. Fox News highlighted that Jason had been employed at Voice of America until his recent retirement.

Pirro shared with reporters a particularly menacing message allegedly made by Jason, in which he stated, Im looking forward to your book signing. We are all armed and ready to take care of you. Were coming after you and your staff, and we are locked and loaded. Were going to take you all out. Weve got our AK-47s. Youre going to get one between the eyes. Bam, bam, bam.

The investigation, as outlined in the Thursday press release, revealed that Jason's threatening communications were traced back to multiple phones linked to Voice of Americas control rooms and studios. Over the course of fifteen months, Jason is accused of making eight calls, during which he allegedly threatened to use firearms to "kill Rep. Greene, her staff, and their families."

In a statement to Fox News, Greene expressed the profound impact of these threats, stating, For 15 months, I received terrifying death threats from one individual who worked alarmingly close to my office building at the Voice of America. That kind of sustained, targeted harassment is deeply disturbing. I truly feared for my life, as I do with all of the death threats I receive.

She extended her gratitude to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Senior Advisor Kari Lake, the Capitol Police, and the prosecutors involved, emphasizing the seriousness of the threats and the importance of decisive action. Threatening an elected official, their family, or their staff is not free speech; its a crime, and it must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. My family and I are incredibly grateful. Justice must be served, Greene asserted.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by public officials in maintaining their safety amid a climate of heightened political tensions. The swift action by law enforcement and the legal system serves as a reminder of the critical importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that threats of violence are met with appropriate consequences.

As the case progresses, it will be essential to monitor how the legal proceedings unfold and what measures are implemented to prevent similar threats in the future.
