In a tragic turn of events, a man has been apprehended in connection with the fatal shooting of Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for "American Idol," and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca.
The couple was discovered deceased in separate rooms within their San Fernando Valley home on Monday. Kaye, aged 70, had been a pivotal figure on the popular television show since 2009.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian from Encino, was taken into custody, though details surrounding his arrest remain sparse. Authorities have not disclosed a mugshot, and the nature of Boodarian's connection to the victims is still unclear. However, investigators currently suspect the incident was a random act of violence.
As reported by One America News, Thomas Deluca, also 70, was a seasoned singer-songwriter with a career spanning several decades. His musical journey began with the release of his solo rock album "Down to the Wire" in 1986, followed by "Street Rock" in 2022. Deluca's songwriting prowess extended to collaborations with artists such as Meredith Brooks, Diesel, and Kid Rock.
The "American Idol" community expressed profound sorrow over the loss. "We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Toms, passing," a spokesperson for the show stated. "Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time."
Law enforcement officials have indicated that the shooting transpired on Thursday during what appears to have been a burglary. Sources suggest the perpetrator gained entry through an unlocked door and opened fire when confronted by the couple upon their return home. Despite a report of a prowler prompting LAPD officers to visit the residence that afternoon, no evidence of a burglary was found, and the officers subsequently left the scene.
The delay in discovering the bodies until Monday raises questions about the initial police response. Officers were dispatched to the residence on White Oak Place for a welfare check at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, where they observed a blood trail leading to the house. Upon entering through a rear glass door, they found the couple deceased, with Deluca in a bathroom and Kaye in the pantry.
