Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, who is currently the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, conducted an extensive interview with President Donald Trump.
The interview, which aired on Fox News, covered a range of topics from a near-fatal assassination attempt on the president to the perceived failures of his predecessor, Joe Biden. Biden's controversial victory in the 2020 election, despite a largely basement-based campaign, was also discussed.
President Trump, when questioned about his remarkable success since reassuming office, responded with an unexpected humility. "Well, experience is very important in life. I think talent is more important than experience, but if you can have them both somehow, it's a very good thing, but experience is very important," he said.
He further added, "I think it also helped that [Biden] was very bad for the country, but it also helps to have four years of horrorwhat went before me was, and by comparison, anything looks goodand I don't want to demean what we've done because we have done a lot of records, but what they've done to our country should never be forgiven, allowing millions and millions of people to come into the country that shouldn't be here."
According to RedState, the president was referring to the crisis of illegal immigration that has engulfed the nation. Former President Joe Biden, whom Trump accurately described as the "worst president of our country," allegedly neglected his duties as commander in chief and allowed millions of illegal immigrants to cross our southern border in a purportedly corrupt attempt to alter the nation's electorate.
Upon resuming office in January, Trump swiftly secured the border, a move that has since provoked progressives. His administration has consistently enforced law and order, taking decisive action to deport illegal immigrants.
Another significant moment in the interview was when President Trump discussed the assassination attempt on his life, which took place exactly one year ago.
Lara Trump recalled the incident, saying, "Well, we are at the anniversary of your Butler rally where Eric and I along with Luke and Carolina watched on live television as so many people across the country, and really the world did, when there was the assassination attempt on you, and as we come to this moment, I am thinking back to what happened right after that. You actually called all of us on the phone, and it was amazing to me that that was what you thought to do, that you wanted us to know that you were okay and I know it is the moment none of us will ever forget and I am sure for you, tenfold."
President Trump responded, "Well, it was unforgettable, I didnt know exactly what was going on, I got whacked, there was no question about that, and fortunately got down quickly, and people were screaming, and I got down quickly, fortunately, because I think they shot eight bullets, and one got me and one got another one, and one got another killed Corey the firefightergreat guyand we had a tremendous massive crowd."
The President also acknowledged the quick response of a sniper named David, who neutralized the threat within seconds. "Tens of thousands of people were there, and our sniper within less than five seconds, was able to get them from long distance with one shot. If he didn't do that you would have had an even worse situation, it was really bad, but hehis name is Davidand he did a fantastic job, and he went about his business, less than just about four seconds, that's when all stopped, then they got them perfectly from the very long distance, so we were lucky in that regard."
The interview revealed a more introspective and thoughtful side of a President often labeled as "bombastic" and "over the top." It is evident that a brush with death can profoundly alter a person's perspective.
