In a recent appearance on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle," Tom Homan, the Border czar, issued a stern warning about the escalating rhetoric against U.
S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
He cautioned that this could lead to increased "bloodshed," a prediction that seems to be materializing following a recent attack on the Border Patrol in Texas.
As reported by the Daily Caller, Texas officials revealed that Ryan Louis Mosqueda, a 27-year-old Michigan resident, opened fire on Border Patrol agents at an annex facility in the state. Responding to Fox host Laura Ingraham's request for his reaction, Homan expressed his concern. "I've been warning about this for two months. I think the last time I did your show more we talked about it. I also talked about it on the Hannity show [and said that] that Ive been around a long time," Homan stated.
He further warned, "It's going to end up with a use of force of either against a protestor turning criminal or against ICE or Border Patrol agents. Someone's going to be seriously, seriously injured if not killed."
Homan also criticized the media and certain members of Congress for their negative portrayal of ICE and Border Patrol agents. He cited instances where he was compared to terrorists and accused of violating people's civil and constitutional rights. "Youve got [House Minority Leader Hakeem] Jeffries out there running his mouth about the Gestapo," Homan added.
The incident in question occurred when Mosqueda, armed with a rifle and tactical gear, ambushed Border Patrol agents entering the McAllen, Texas Border Patrol building. The attack resulted in two officers being injured and a Border Patrol employee being shot in the knee, as per the New York Post.
The pushback against President Donald Trump's immigration policies, including his commitment to secure the U.S. southern border and deport illegal migrants, has been significant since his inauguration. Some Democrats have even been arrested for interfering with federal officials in their pursuit of these policies.
Homan reiterated his warning about the potential consequences of the escalating rhetoric against ICE and Border Patrol. "The ramped up rhetoric is going to cause a situation where someone will lose their life. We saw that today. I was hoping Id be wrong, but I wasnt," he said. He also stressed the need for the rhetoric to stop, stating, "Theyre simply enforcing law that Congress enacted. Its going to end in bloodshed. I think there will be more bloodshed."
A June report by Breitbart highlighted the increasing danger faced by ICE agents, with a 500% increase in assaults against officers attempting to arrest illegal migrants. This surge coincides with the Trump administration's intensified raids across the country, particularly in sanctuary cities like Los Angeles.
The situation in Los Angeles escalated in June, with protests and riots resulting in vandalism of official buildings, cars being set on fire, and stores being looted. It's a stark reminder of the volatile environment that ICE and Border Patrol agents operate in, and the potential for further "bloodshed" if the rhetoric doesn't change.
