GOP Representative Mark Green of Tennessee has announced his resignation from Congress, a decision that further narrows the already slim Republican majority in the House.

In a heartfelt message to his constituents, Green expressed his gratitude, stating, "It's with a heavy heart that I say farewell. To my constituents across Tennessees 7th Districtthank you. The trust you put in me is humbling. I will look back fondly on my years of serving as your voice in Washington."

As reported by The Post Millennial, Green has not divulged specific details about his future plans but revealed his intention to embark on a new business venture. "While I cannot give the details here, I will be doing something specifically designed to help America compete against the CCP [Chinese Communist Party], but this time in business, he explained.

Green, who succeeded Marsha Blackburn in 2018, has been a vocal advocate for border security and the welfare of veterans and military personnel during his tenure in Congress. His departure was anticipated following his June announcement of an impending resignation, as noted by CNBC.

The Republican Party in the House has witnessed a series of departures in recent months, including Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida, who joined the Trump administration, and Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, who has decided not to seek reelection.

These exits have contributed to a reduction in GOP representation, leaving Speaker Mike Johnson with a precarious majority. With Green's resignation, the House composition shifts to 219 Republicans and 212 Democrats, heightening the stakes for the GOP as they navigate legislative challenges.
