In a recent discussion, Joy Reid, a former host on MSNBC, made a startling assertion regarding the potential deportation of First Lady Melania Trump under newly proposed immigration regulations.
Reid suggested that President Trump possesses the authority to deport individuals, including American citizens, based on personal disagreements or political views.
During her conversation with Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Reid expressed concerns about the extent of presidential power, stating, If you give the president of the United States monarchical-like powers to say, I dont like your views, I dont like your take on issues, I dont like that youre too liberal, youre not conservative enough, Im just gonna take away your naturalized citizenship, well If we ever get a Democratic president, they could say, I dont like Melania Trump. She wasnt born here. She was born in Slovenia. She is a naturalized citizen. Shes outta here.
According to Breitbart, Reid's comments were in response to a Justice Department memo granting U.S. Attorneys the discretion to initiate denaturalization proceedings against individuals who have committed specific crimes.
Reid further speculated that such measures could have been applied to the late Ivana Trump, noting, And by the way, Ivana Trump, the late Ivana Trump, whos buried in the golf course in New Jersey in Donald Trumps golf club, she wasnt an American citizen. And three of her children are Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka.
She continued, And maybe the next Democratic president says, You know what? I dont like the Trumps. And so were gonna denaturalize all of the Trump children, whose mother was a foreigner at the time.
