The United States Senate is poised to advance the budget reconciliation plan, colloquially dubbed the "big, beautiful bill," by the July 4 deadline set by President Donald Trump.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed this timeline during an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, indicating that the legislative body remains on course to meet this target.

As reported by Breitbart, Thune initially disclosed his intention to meet the July 4 deadline in an exclusive interview in April. During the recent broadcast, host Matthew Boyle inquired about the Senate's progress, asking, "And we were talking about this is that, after the House goes, can the Senate go before July 4? Now, thats coming up pretty soon. Thats not next weekend, but the weekend after." Thune responded affirmatively, stating, "We are," and emphasizing that this has always been the goal.

Thune elaborated on the complexities of the Senate's legislative process, highlighting the unique "laws and restrictions and, you know, procedures that we have to operate under that are different than the House." Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in the Senate's ability to meet the deadline, asserting, "I believe it was achievable."

He further noted the importance of deadlines in Washington, D.C., explaining, "The one thing Ive discovered in my time in Washington is if you dont put deadlines out there, nothing gets done, and this stuff can drag on and on endlessly."

The Senate Majority Leader underscored the necessity of swift action to ensure the bill's passage, stating, "If we want to get the one big, beautiful bill done, the Senate is going to have to act, and were going to hopefully act in a way that will enable the House when we send it back over there to them, because they have to pass the same bill that we do." Thune expressed optimism that the House would be able to "pick it up, pass it, and send it to the President."

Thune reiterated the Senate's commitment to the timeline, saying, "So its thats our schedule. Were on it. Were adhering to it, and we think its important that we get this on the Presidents desk as soon as possible." This determination reflects a broader conservative agenda focused on efficient governance and the advancement of policies aligned with traditional values and economic freedom.

Breitbart News Saturday, where Thune made these remarks, is broadcast on SiriusXM Patriot 125 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Eastern. The program serves as a platform for discussing key issues from a conservative perspective, providing insights into the legislative priorities and strategies of Republican leaders.

As the Senate moves forward with the reconciliation plan, the focus remains on delivering results that align with the principles of limited government and individual liberty.
