In the wake of significant U.S. airstrikes targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has pledged to persist with its uranium enrichment activities.
The AEOI condemned President Donald Trump's military actions, labeling them as "barbaric" and vowed to honor the "blood of nuclear martyrs."
The AEOI, invoking the name of Allah, asserted that the nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan were attacked in what they described as a "barbaric act" by adversaries of Islamic Iran. They claimed this act violated international law, particularly the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The organization further accused the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of indifference and complicity in these events.
According to Breitbart, the AEOI's statement declared, "The American enemy has claimed responsibility for the attack on the aforementioned sites, which are under the continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, based on the Safeguards Agreement and the NPT Treaty." The AEOI called upon the international community to denounce what they termed as "lawlessness based on the rules of the jungle" and to support Iran in securing its legitimate rights.
The AEOI reassured "the great Iranian nation" that, despite adversarial plots, the nation's nuclear development would continue unabated. They emphasized the dedication of Iran's "thousands of revolutionary and motivated scientists and experts" and pledged that the progress of this national industry, born from the "blood of nuclear martyrs," would not be halted. The organization also indicated plans to pursue legal action to defend the rights of the Iranian people.
Notably, Iran was recently found in violation of its NPT obligations by the IAEA. Last Thursday, the IAEA board of governors censured Iran for enriching uranium to levels far exceeding those necessary for civilian purposes and for concealing activities at three undisclosed nuclear sites. This censure was the most severe issued against Iran by the U.N. nuclear watchdog since 2005.
In a stark contradiction to its appeals for IAEA protection, the Iranian regime expressed outrage at the IAEA's resolution. The Iranian Foreign Ministry accused IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi of collaborating with Israel to instigate an "unjust war of aggression" against Tehran. Iran charged Grossi with presenting a "completely biased report" on Iran's noncompliance, which they claimed was exploited by a "warmongering and genocidal regime" to justify an aggressive war and illegal attacks on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities.
The Iranian response to these developments underscores the ongoing tension between Tehran and the international community. While the AEOI seeks to rally domestic and international support, the IAEA's findings and subsequent censure highlight the complexities and challenges of Iran's nuclear ambitions.
As the situation unfolds, the global community remains watchful, balancing the enforcement of international treaties with the pursuit of diplomatic solutions.
