In a candid critique of her own party, veteran Democrat strategist Patti Solis Doyle has voiced her discontent with the current state of the Democratic Party, describing it as "leaderless" and "agendaless.
".
Solis Doyle, who once managed Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, did not hold back in her assessment of President Joe Biden's absence from the political forefront, criticizing the White House for attempting to mask his apparent cognitive decline.
During a recent podcast interview with journalist Mark Halperin, Solis Doyle expressed relief at having distanced herself from the political fray, citing the current turmoil within the Democratic Party. "I have never been happier not to be actually in it in the middle of politics than I am right now, because it sounds really depressing, whats going on at the party," she remarked. Her comments reflect a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction among Democrats, who are facing criticism from multiple directions after losing the presidency to President Donald Trump.
According to Breitbart, Solis Doyle elaborated on the leadership vacuum plaguing her party. "The other problem that they have is that theres no real leader. If your party holds the White House, the leader of the party is the president. If your party doesnt hold the White House, the leader of the party is the last president of that party," she explained. With Biden ostensibly "off the radar completely," she lamented that the Democrats are currently without direction or a coherent message. "We dont have any alternative ideas to the presidents and the Republicans right now. So Im concerned to say the least," she added.
Solis Doyle also addressed the aftermath of the 2024 elections, which she described as a "massacre" for the Democrats. "There are people who say, Oh it wasnt a landslide. It absolutely was Democrats lost ground in every single county in America," she told Halperin. Her stark assessment underscores the significant challenges the party faces in regaining its footing.
The strategist did not shy away from discussing Biden's mental fitness, which she identified as a critical misstep in the party's strategy. "The Original Sin was sort of running an 80-plus-year-old man who was not, you know, as with it as they were telling us and then asking us to not believe our lying eyes He probably was not capable of serving another four years," she stated. This acknowledgment of Biden's limitations highlights the internal struggles within the party as it grapples with its future direction.
While Solis Doyle acknowledged former Vice President Kamala Harris's commendable efforts during her 2024 campaign, she noted the lack of enthusiasm for a potential 2028 run. "When you lose an electionyoure like, incompetent," she said, attributing Harris's defeat partly to her inability to sufficiently distance herself from Biden.
"Its just the way the cookie crumbles," she concluded, encapsulating the broader challenges facing the Democratic Party as it seeks to redefine its leadership and agenda in the coming years.
