President Donald Trump's administration is intensifying its surveillance of potential Iran-backed Hezbollah cells within the United States.
This move comes as the President deliberates on possible military action against Iran's nuclear infrastructure, as reported by CBS News.
According to The Post Millennial, FBI Director Kash Patel has been actively enhancing efforts to identify and monitor any Iran-affiliated cells linked to Hezbollah. This initiative has gained momentum following Israel's recent military operation against Iran, dubbed Operation Rising Lion.
The backdrop to these developments includes Iran's previous threats to target U.S. officials involved in the 2020 assassination of Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani, an operation ordered by Trump. Notably, last year saw charges against an Iranian operative and two individuals in the U.S. for plotting to assassinate critics of Iran, with Trump himself included in the assassination plot.
Amidst the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, President Trump is contemplating a strike on Iran's uranium enrichment facility at Fordow. This facility, located deep underground, represents a significant target, and any action against it would signify a direct U.S. involvement alongside Israel against Iran. The President, through White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, announced that a decision regarding the U.S.'s next steps in the conflict with Iran would be made within two weeks. Iran has warned of retaliation should the U.S. choose to intervene.
Throughout his political career and private life, President Trump has consistently maintained that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons. Earlier this week, he called for Iran's "unconditional surrender" and took to Truth Social to assert, "We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesnt compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured 'stuff.' Nobody does it better than the good ol USA."
The President's firm stance on Iran underscores his commitment to safeguarding American interests and maintaining global stability. As the situation unfolds, the administration's actions will likely continue to reflect a strategy that prioritizes national security and the prevention of nuclear proliferation.
