E. Jean Carroll, a former writer for Elle Magazine, has expressed her intention to seek retribution against President Donald Trump by deliberately provoking him.
Carroll, who was awarded $83.3 million in damages in a defamation lawsuit against Trump in January 2024, revealed her plans during an interview on Katie Phangs YouTube channel. She stated her desire to use the awarded funds, which she has yet to receive, to support causes she believes will infuriate Trump, deriving immense satisfaction from the prospect.
According to WND, Carroll articulated her strategy, saying, I know my own pleasures, and that doesnt involve buying things. Where my pleasure comes is making him so pissed off he cant think. We need to prick his little balloon constantly, and one of the ways to do that is to give his money to womens reproductive rights. She further elaborated on her intentions to support initiatives aimed at "binding up the wounds of democracy" and "shoring up voting rights," actions she believes would provoke Trump. Carroll questioned, Can you imagine how angry he takes this?
Carroll also commented on Trump's financial success, stating, Well, he made $600 million last year on Bitcoin. And as [lawyer] Robbie [Kaplan] says, do you know anybody except criminals who make money on Bitcoin? No. Do we? We dont. She relished the thought of Trumps irritation, adding, Anyway, so its just so delicious thinking about how pissed off hell be, how angry that his own personal money is going to help women. Ah, heaven. Heaven. Its the revenge that we all love.
Carroll's legal battles with Trump have been ongoing. She initially sued him for rape and defamation, alleging an assault in a dressing room at Manhattans Bergdorf Goodman department store in the mid-1990s. In May 2023, a jury found Trump liable for battery and defamation, awarding Carroll $5 million in damages, though they did not find him liable for rape. Carroll pursued further legal action against Trump for derogatory remarks he made about her in 2019 and for calling her a whack job during a CNN town hall in May 2023, which led to the $83.3 million judgment.
In response to these legal proceedings, Trump has vehemently denied the allegations and criticized the verdicts. In a January 2024 post on Truth Social, he declared, Absolutely ridiculous! I fully disagree with both verdicts, and will be appealing this whole Biden Directed Witch Hunt focused on me and the Republican Party. He further accused the legal system of being manipulated for political purposes, stating, Our Legal System is out of control, and being used as a Political Weapon. They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA!
The ongoing legal saga between Carroll and Trump highlights the contentious nature of their dispute, with Carroll determined to use her legal victories to champion causes she believes will counteract Trump's influence. Meanwhile, Trump continues to challenge the verdicts, framing them as politically motivated attacks against him and the broader conservative movement.
