Tom Homan, the border czar, made a firm declaration on Fox News, emphasizing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) remains steadfast in its commitment to worksite enforcement.
Despite previous pauses in immigration arrests at various establishments such as farms, restaurants, and hotels, Homan assured that operations targeting criminal activities at U.S. workplaces continue to be a fundamental aspect of ICE's mission under President Donald Trump.
As reported by the Daily Caller, the Trump administration had initially halted these arrests due to concerns about potential economic repercussions. This decision came even as Stephen Miller, a key figure in the administration, advocated for an increase in enforcement, aiming for 3,000 arrests daily. During his appearance on "The Ingraham Angle," Homan clarified that the administration prioritizes public safety and national security threats, with worksite enforcement operations focusing on issues like forced labor trafficking, sex trafficking, and criminal investigations related to tax evasion and cartel activities.
"Look, like everything else, [the] presidents prioritizing public safety threats and national security threats," Homan stated, underscoring the administration's commitment to these operations.
Homan further elaborated on ICE's approach, noting that while agents adhere to the president's directives, their primary focus remains on criminal conduct. "We prioritize worksite investigation too. Well prioritize them like we do everything else, but worksite enforcement operations, its a tenet of what were doing. Its important," he explained. This steadfast approach highlights the administration's dedication to maintaining law and order within the nation's borders.
Addressing concerns about morale within ICE amid public criticism and doxxing incidents, Homan expressed confidence in the agency's resilience. "Morale is high. Agents are used to being attacked. Yeah, theyre getting doxed. Im getting doxed. My family gets doxed," he remarked. He emphasized the strong camaraderie among ICE officers, stating, "When you attack an ICE officer, youre attacking 20,000 of them because the camaraderie in ICE is tight. So when they double down, we triple down."
President Trump, who triumphed over former Vice President Kamala Harris in a decisive electoral victory, has consistently championed a stringent immigration policy. His platform included expanding the border wall, ending birthright citizenship, and executing mass deportations. He has also expressed intentions to declare a national emergency and deploy the military to facilitate these removals, underscoring his administration's unwavering stance on immigration enforcement.
