On Friday, Israel executed a significant aerial offensive that severely impacted Iran's military leadership and crippled its nuclear and military infrastructure.
This decisive action, while a substantial setback for Iran, was anticipated by many. Earlier in the week, the United States had preemptively withdrawn several diplomats and officials from the Middle East, foreseeing an imminent Israeli military operation against Iran.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the Israeli strikes over two days resulted in the elimination of several high-ranking Iranian officials who were targeted while at home in Tehran.
Among those reportedly neutralized were the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Commander of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, the Commander of the IRGCs airspace, and the Commander of the Khatam Al-Anbia Construction Headquarters. Israel has not ruled out the possibility of targeting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, a move that could potentially galvanize his followers.
The success of Israel's military strategy, according to Iran Wire, can be attributed to the infiltration of Iran's "highest offices" by Israeli agents. This infiltration has been facilitated by pervasive corruption within the Iranian government.
A senior Iranian diplomat revealed to IranWire that Israeli operatives have penetrated the upper echelons of Iran's government, allowing for precise strikes that have eliminated key military figures. "Our government has been corrupted to the core. Israel has realized this and has been taking advantage of it for years," the diplomat stated.
The diplomat further elaborated on the extent of Israeli infiltration, noting, "We all guessed in the past, but we now know that Israel has agents in the highest offices of the country. My friends in the Revolutionary Guards and Intelligence Ministry tell me that even counter-espionage units are filled with Israeli agents."
This revelation underscores the depth of Israel's intelligence operations within Iran, which have been years in the making. "The type of operation that Israel carried out on Friday morning is the result of months, or even years, of preparation and intelligence gathering. Its not something they planned and executed in just a few days or weeks," the diplomat added.
In light of these developments, the focus for Iran has shifted from immediate retaliation to addressing the security breaches within its ranks. "The main priority right now is not defending the integrity of the system or retaliation. Military and intelligence officials need to find the hole in the system first, and then make the next plans," the source emphasized. However, the diplomat acknowledged the challenges posed by systemic corruption, stating, "But corruption has turned our government into a sieve, so its very difficult to do anything about the holes."
The unfolding situation highlights the complex interplay of intelligence, military strategy, and internal vulnerabilities within Iran, as Israel continues to assert its strategic interests in the region.
