WATCH: Trump Fires Back At Hollywood Boycott Of Kennedy Center Honors

President Donald Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, attended a performance of the renowned musical Les Misrables at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

Their arrival was met with a display of protest from several drag queens, while some actors chose to express their discontent by simply not attending the event. Unfazed by the dissent, Trump responded to the absent performers with characteristic candor.

When queried by a journalist about the reported boycott by some actors, the President retorted, I couldnt care less..All I do is run the country well. This statement underscores Trump's confidence in his leadership, despite the controversy surrounding his presence at the event. As reported by Breitbart, Trump has long expressed his admiration for Les Misrables, considering it his favorite musical.

The protest against Trump's attendance was not limited to the evening of the performance. According to CNN, between 10 and 12 members of the touring cast of Les Misrables have decided to boycott their upcoming June 11th performance at the Kennedy Center.

This event is scheduled to follow a fundraiser headlined by the President. The report indicates that the entire cast was given the option to abstain, with both lead actors and ensemble members choosing to participate in the boycott.

In a significant reshuffle at the Kennedy Center, Trump was appointed chairman upon his return to the White House. Richard Grenell, a Trump aide and former ambassador to Germany, was named interim President, succeeding outgoing chair David Rubenstein.

This restructuring has led to a wave of departures from the institution, with several prominent figures, including soprano Rene Fleming, severing ties with the Kennedy Center. Other notable cancellations include events by actor Issa Rae, author Louise Penny, and the rock band Low Cut Connie.

Despite the upheaval, singer-songwriter Victoria Clark proceeded with her February 15 performance, albeit with a sartorial statement against Trump, donning a T-shirt emblazoned with ANTI TRUMP AF. The Kennedy Center, a federally funded cultural hub supported by both government funding and private donations, draws millions of visitors annually.

The complex boasts a concert hall, opera house, theater, lecture hall, meeting spaces, and the Millennium Stage, which hosts free performances.
