The annual Congressional Baseball Game, held at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, unfolded predictably as the Republican team triumphed over their Democratic counterparts.
The GOP, exuding both unity and style, donned striking red uniforms emblazoned with "USA" and adorned with a flag patch. Notably, their attire included a reference to June 14, 2017, the date when Republican Texas Rep. Steve Scalise and others were tragically shot during a practice session for the game.
According to the Daily Caller, the Democrats, in contrast, sported a hodgepodge of jerseys, lacking any cohesive or patriotic theme. This sartorial choice seemed to reflect a broader absence of unity and enthusiasm. The Republicans further distinguished themselves during the pregame ceremony by standing respectfully for the American flag, while the Democrats reportedly walked away.
On the field, the Republicans delivered a commanding performance. Republican Florida Rep. Greg Steube was a standout, striking out seven Democratic players over five innings. His efforts were bolstered by a robust offensive display from his teammates. By the end of the third inning, the GOP had secured a 5-2 lead, which they extended with eight additional runs in the fifth and sixth innings, culminating in a decisive 13-2 victory.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Republicans have emerged victorious in the Congressional Baseball Game. With such a strong track record, the GOP appears poised to aim for a sixth win in the coming year.
