The recent upheaval in Los Angeles, characterized by anti-ICE riots, has left many Americans appalled.
Despite the chaos, some media outlets have chosen to misrepresent these events as "peaceful protests," overlooking the significant destruction and anti-American sentiment that have fueled aggression towards federal authorities.
According to the Daily Caller, on June 7th and 8th, Los Angeles witnessed violent confrontations between anti-ICE rioters and law enforcement. The rioters wreaked havoc across the city, engaging in clashes with police, vandalizing property, looting businesses, and setting fires, including to police vehicles. This turmoil prompted President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard to restore order.
In a city known for its liberal leanings, it was perhaps inevitable that a sports team would express solidarity with the rioters. The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) of Major League Soccer took to social media to voice support for the rioters, seemingly disregarding the Trump administration, ICE, and their immigration enforcement efforts. "Shoulder to Shoulder," LAFC tweeted, as left-wing rioters continued their destructive spree in Los Angeles.
The trend of sports teams aligning with such movements did not end with LAFC. The Los Angeles Dodgers, a team that has brought financial success to many fans, may soon follow suit, much to the chagrin of those who prefer to keep politics out of sports.
The ongoing situation raises questions about the role of sports franchises in political discourse and their impact on public perception.
