Elon Musk has received an open invitation from Europe, as indicated by a European Commission spokesperson on Friday, following a dramatic public dispute with President Donald Trump.
The once-strong political alliance between Trump and Musk unraveled when the president expressed his dissatisfaction with Musk's criticisms, leading to a heated exchange of insults on social media.
As reported by Breitbart, during a routine briefing, Paula Pinho, a spokesperson for the European Commission, was questioned about Musk's potential interest in relocating his business ventures to the European Union. "He's very welcome," Pinho responded, accompanied by a smile. Thomas Regnier, the commission's spokesperson for technology, emphasized that "everyone is very welcome indeed to start and to scale in the EU," highlighting the EU's "Choose Europe" initiative aimed at fostering start-ups and business expansion.
Musk, known for his outspoken criticism of the European Union's digital regulations, has accused the bloc of censorship and has shown support for the growing far-right movements in Germany and other countries. The fallout with Trump has escalated tensions, with the president threatening to revoke government contracts worth approximately $18 billion, prompting Musk to consider terminating a crucial U.S. spaceship program in retaliation.
The discord between the two prominent figures stems from Musk's opposition to a proposal in the new U.S. spending bill to eliminate electric vehicle subsidies. This disagreement has had significant repercussions, notably causing a sharp decline in Tesla's stock value. President Trump remarked that Musk had gone "crazy" over the subsidy plan, further intensifying the rift between them.
