Elon Musk, the influential entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has recently stirred the political waters by proposing the formation of a "new political party" aimed at representing the vast majority of Americans who find themselves in the political center.

This suggestion emerged amidst a public exchange of criticisms between Musk and President Donald Trump concerning the contentious "Big Beautiful Bill."

Musk initiated a poll on the social media platform X, posing the question, "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" The poll offered a simple binary choice of "yes" or "no." As reported by The Post Millennial, the poll garnered significant attention, with approximately 84 percent of respondents expressing support for the idea, while 16 percent opposed it. By early Thursday afternoon, the poll had attracted around 270,000 participants and had been viewed over 2 million times.

The backdrop to Musk's political musings is a heated dispute with President Trump over the "Big Beautiful Bill," a legislative package supported by the president. Musk has been vocally critical of the bill, advocating for more stringent spending cuts. He expressed his frustration on X, stating, I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

In response, President Trump, speaking from the Oval Office, expressed his disappointment in Musk, suggesting that Musk had previously shown no opposition to the bill while serving as a special government employee.

Trump remarked that Musk's objections only surfaced when it became apparent that the electric vehicle (EV) mandate might face reductions. Musk countered these claims on X, asserting, "False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!"

Musk further escalated the exchange by claiming that his influence was pivotal in securing Trump's victory in the 2024 election. He wrote, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude."

In a subsequent post on Truth Social, President Trump suggested a cost-saving measure for the federal budget by targeting Musk's company, Tesla. He stated, "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elons Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didnt do it."

The ongoing spat between Musk and President Trump highlights the complexities of navigating political alliances and the influence of prominent figures in shaping public discourse. As Musk contemplates the creation of a new political party, the question remains whether such an initiative could effectively bridge the divide and resonate with the American electorate.
