Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, has voiced her strong disapproval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recent decision to authorize Moderna's mNEXSPIKE COVID-19 vaccine.
In a post on X, Greene expressed her dissatisfaction, stating, "Not MAHA at all!!!" and labeling the decision as "Unreal." The acronym MAHA stands for "Make America Healthy Again," a phrase she has championed.
As reported by Fox News, the FDA has approved the mNEXSPIKE vaccine for individuals who have previously received any COVID-19 vaccine and are either 65 years or older, or between 12 and 64 years of age with at least one underlying condition that increases their risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes.
Moderna's CEO, Stphane Bancel, emphasized the ongoing threat of COVID-19, noting that "COVID-19 remains a serious public health threat, with more than 47,000 Americans dying from the virus last year alone." Moderna, a pioneer in mRNA medicine, continues to advocate for its vaccine's role in combating the pandemic.
Greene has consistently criticized the approval of COVID-19 vaccines, arguing that the FDA should revoke their authorization. In a tweet from March, she stated, "COVID-19 vaccines should have never received approval and theyve known the entire time how bad the side effects are and deaths caused by them. Its time to do the right thing. Stop the COVID-19 vaccines."
Greene, now in her third term in the House of Representatives, remains a vocal opponent of the vaccine rollout, reflecting a broader skepticism among some conservatives regarding government intervention in public health. Her stance underscores the ongoing debate over vaccine safety and the role of federal agencies in health-related decisions.
