Comey Drops Ominous WARNING About GOP's Political Payback Plot!

Written by Published

James Comey, the former Director of the FBI, has issued a cautionary note to Republicans, suggesting that their current use of the Department of Justice (DOJ) as a tool against political adversaries may backfire.

He warns that Democrats could eventually employ similar tactics against them.

In a conversation with Jen Psaki on MSNBC, Comey criticized the recent dismantling of the Office of Public Integrity, a division responsible for prosecuting corruption cases involving public officials.

According to Mediaite, Comey emphasized the importance of this office, stating, These are the people who, through decades and decades, have seen every kind of case. And so theyre there to make sure that the work, no matter whos in charge in the White House, no matter who the attorney general is, that the work is done consistently with previous practice and consistent with the law.

Comey himself has been under scrutiny, having been questioned by the Secret Service over a social media post featuring seashells arranged to spell "86 47." President Donald Trump interpreted this as a call for assassination and indicated that the DOJ would address the matter.

On Friday, Comey reiterated his belief that the GOP's current strategy of targeting political foes could lead to future regret when Democrats regain power. I know Republicans these days arent big in thinking about principle or precedent, Comey remarked. Theyre gonna be deeply sorry that that disappears, because someday there will be a Democratic president and therell be investigations of Republican officeholders. If Im them, I sure would want these career people in place making sure that its done in the right way.

While acknowledging the potential for reducing the size of certain DOJ headquarters units, Comey criticized the Trump administration's approach as excessive. Ive long thought that you could shrink the size of some of the Department of Justice headquarters units, he commented.

But this is like burning down the house and then standing in front of the pile of ashes and saying, yeah, we really did need to retile the guest bath, right? This is destroying the place at a cost thats gonna take years and years to rebuild.

Comey's remarks highlight a broader concern about the potential erosion of institutional integrity and the long-term consequences of politicizing justice. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the balance between maintaining order and respecting democratic principles remains a critical issue for both parties.
