Vivek Ramaswamy, the businessman and Republican presidential candidate announced that he is suing Klaus Schwab's World Economic Forum (WEF) for listing him as one of its "Young Global Leaders."
In a press release by his campaign, Ramaswamy's team stated that he categorically refused the WEF's invitation to be on the list. They emphasized that Ramaswamy repeatedly requested removal from the list once he learned of his inclusion.
The press release announcing the lawsuit alleges that "WEF's decision to stamp Mr. Ramaswamy's name and image on its 'list' created a false public impression that served WEF's goals while undercutting Mr. Ramaswamy's staunch public advocacy against WEF's globalist agenda." According to his campaign, this action conveyed a misleading message to the public, which harmed Ramaswamy's position.
Ramaswamy, who is a proponent for the revival of national identity, which conflicts with the globalist WEF's worldview, expressed his dismay over his placement on the list in 2021. He told the New York Post he is "appalled" to be included.
"The WEF has a radical worldview that rejects the principles America was founded on. I'm not interested in being a 'global citizen.' I'm an American," Ramaswamy said.
He accused the WEF of presenting a serious threat to the American way of life through its attempts to achieve "equity." In the press release, he likened the organization's agendas to the "Old War Monarchy" American colonists endured before the Revolution.
He stated, "Our Founding Fathers fought the American Revolution to declare independence from the Old World monarchy. That old monster now rears its head again in the form of WEF's agendas including 'stakeholder capitalism' and the 'Great Reset.' That's why I've been one of the most vocal crusaders in America against WEF, and I am filing this lawsuit to hold them accountable for creating the false illusion of affiliation to undermine its opponents so that they don't do it again to others."
Ramaswamy has recently been vocal in his opposition to "wokeness" and the globalist agenda. In 2021, he published the New York Times best-seller, Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam, which delves into the consequences of "stakeholder capitalism" and woke corporatism, arguing that they strip Americans of both their wealth and their identity.
He created Strive Asset Management, an investment firm that competes with BlackRock, which has been propelling the far-left Environmental, Social, and Governance investing principles.
Notably, BlackRock's global head of investment stewardship, Joud Abdel Majeid, made Schwab's "Young Global Leaders" list in 2022.
