Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has openly expressed her dissatisfaction with the Trump administration's recent foreign policy maneuvers, particularly highlighting a mineral agreement with Ukraine and ongoing negotiations with Iran.
Greene's critique, though not directly naming President Donald Trump, was articulated in a comprehensive post on X, where she voiced her concerns about the administration's trajectory.
According to The Post Millennial, Greene emphasized her role as a representative of the conservative base, stating, I represent the base and when Im frustrated and upset over the direction of things, you better be clear, the base is not happy. Her remarks reflect a growing unease among some conservatives regarding the administration's foreign policy decisions.
Greene, who campaigned against foreign military engagements, expressed alarm over the potential for conflict with Iran. She remarked, I campaigned for no more foreign wars. And now we are supposedly on the verge of going to war with Iran, referencing both U.S. discussions with Iran and Israel's push for American backing in targeting Iran's nuclear capabilities. Greene further questioned the wisdom of military interventions, stating, I dont think we should be bombing foreign countries on behalf of other foreign countries especially when they have their own nuclear weapons and massive military strength.
The congresswoman also criticized a newly announced mineral deal with Ukraine, which involves the U.S. gaining access to Ukrainian natural resources in return for additional support in its conflict with Russia. Greene described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a dictator who canceled elections and linked him to the first impeachment of Trump.
She questioned the rationale behind the agreement, asking, Why on earth would we go over and occupy Ukraine and spend an untold amount of future American taxpayer dollars defending and mining their minerals as well as potentially putting American lives at risk and future war? Greene suggested an alternative approach, advocating for the mining of domestic rare earth minerals on federal lands.
In addition to her foreign policy critiques, Greene addressed domestic issues, notably the continued FDA approval of the COVID-19 vaccine and the absence of budget rescissions in Congress aimed at reducing government expenditure.
Despite her usual support for President Trump, Greene concluded her post with a stark warning: When you are losing MTG, you are losing the base. And Trump isnt on the ballot in the future, so do the math on that. Her remarks underscore a significant moment of introspection within the conservative movement, as they grapple with the administration's policy choices and their implications for the future.
