U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations agents successfully intercepted a human smuggling attempt off California's coast, as revealed by Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks.
According to Breitbart, Chief Banks disclosed that the Mexican Navy had previously alerted them about a vessel that had evaded both their forces and the U.S. Coast Guard. When AMO agents attempted to intercept the boat near San Diego, the operator refused to comply, prompting decisive action. Banks emphasized the importance of border security, stating, Even in the open ocean, the border has a line- and we will defend it.
The operation culminated in the disabling of the vessel and the apprehension of two individuals accused of human smuggling. These suspects now face charges of failure to heave (18USC2237) and inadmissible alien (8USC1182). This incident follows a similar operation days earlier, where Banks reported the capture of 19 illegal aliens, including three alleged smugglers. In collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, Border Patrol intercepted a smuggling vessel near Oceanside, California. The smugglers are now facing federal charges for alien smuggling (8USC1324), while others on board were charged with felony illegal re-entry (8USC1326).
