In a rather unfortunate turn of events, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem fell victim to a robbery while dining with her family in Washington, D.C., on Easter Sunday.
The incident, however, became fodder for late-night television as Jimmy Kimmel seized the opportunity to mock the situation during his Monday night show.
According to Breitbart, Kimmel took aim at the Trump administration official, questioning, what could be more embarrassing? He went on to detail the theft, stating, And then we have Kristi Noem, our secretary of Homeland Security, who had her purse stolen last night. She was out having Easter dinner with her family, a thief took her purse. Got away with her drivers license, her apartment keys, her passport, and $3,000 cash. Kimmel added a touch of humor, quipping, Who carries $3,000 cash? What is she T-Pain?
The theft occurred when a masked man brazenly snatched Noem's purse, which contained not only $3,000 in cash but also her passport, makeup bag, DHS access card, and apartment key. The suspect managed to escape the scene before vanishing into the night. Kimmel continued his comedic critique, noting, A thief wearing a mask, a medical mask, snatched the purse from underneath her seat. Unfortunately for Secretary Noem, the security footage shows that the suspect is a White male. So thats a missed opportunity.
Kimmel's commentary didn't stop there, as he further jested, And what could be more embarrassing than our head of Homeland Security getting robbed? Its unbelievable! And the funniest part is none of this would have ever happened if she hadnt shot her guard dog! This remark referenced an anecdote from Noem's book, "No Going Back," where she recounted having to put down an "untrainable" dog. While the incident was undoubtedly distressing for Noem, it served as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of public life and the scrutiny that accompanies it.
