In the wake of the 2024 presidential election, the Democratic Party's former vice presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, continues to lead in the polls for the 2028 presidential race.
This is despite her lackluster performance in the previous election, where she lost every swing state despite significant media support. As reported by Western Journal, the question arises: why does the Democratic Party continue to back a candidate who has proven to be less than successful?
Harris's popularity cannot be solely attributed to name recognition. After all, name recognition alone does not guarantee popularity or success. For instance, Salmonella poisoning, Spirit Airlines, and the recent "Snow White" remake are all widely recognized, yet none are particularly well-regarded. Similarly, Harris's name recognition does not necessarily translate into widespread support or approval.
One of the most glaring examples of Harris's questionable leadership was her decision to use child actors in a promotional video for her role on the National Space Council. The children were required to audition for the roles of everyday students, a move that was widely criticized as disingenuous and manipulative.
One of the child actors, 13-year-old Trevor Bernardino from Monterey, California, spoke to KSBW about his experience. Bernardino revealed the extensive process he underwent to be cast in the video, which included submitting a monologue about a topic he was passionate about and three questions he would ask a world leader. He was then required to interview the director of the production to demonstrate his interviewing skills.
"Then after that, like a week later my agent called me and was like, 'Hey Trevor, you booked it,'" Bernardino recalled. The young actor was excited about the opportunity, not knowing who he would be interviewing. "The most exciting part was definitely meeting Vice President Harris. Theres nothing that can top that. Like, honestly," Bernardino said.
However, the authenticity of the video was called into question when it was revealed that the children were professional actors. This revelation, coupled with Harris's overenthusiastic delivery of lines such as "Youre gonna literally see the craters on the moon with your own eyes!" led to widespread criticism and embarrassment.
Despite this, Harris continues to lead in the polls for the 2028 presidential race. This has led to the resurfacing of the controversial video, prompting many to question the Democratic Party's continued support for Harris.
The Democratic Party must consider whether it is in their best interest to continue backing a candidate who has proven to be less than successful in the past. The party should consider selecting a new candidate who can effectively represent their values and policies, rather than relying on a candidate whose past performance has been questionable at best.
The Democratic Party's continued support for Harris could potentially lead to a repeat of the 2024 election results. It is crucial for the party to learn from past mistakes and select a candidate who can effectively represent their values and policies. The party's future success may depend on their ability to make this crucial decision.
