In a recent controversial statement, Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has compared President Donald Trump to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged member of the notorious MS-13 gang.

Crockett suggested that Trump poses a greater threat than Garcia, who was recently deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration.

According to The Post Millennial, during her appearance on MSNBCs The Katie Phang Show, Crockett discussed Senator Chris Van Hollens attempts to reverse Garcia's deportation. She argued that Garcia is a lot less criminal than Trump. If Senator Van Hollen can get down there, if the president can get up here and get to the White House, then I dont understand why we cant get Abrego up out of there, Crockett stated.

She further criticized the Trump administration for its handling of Garcia's case, saying, I mean, we know that they admitted that they were wrong. Now theyre trying to double back and say, well, hes this terrible person and all this kind of stuff. But heres the reality. As far as Im concerned, hes a lot less criminal than the person thats sitting in the White House, because last time I checked, he doesnt have any criminal convictions.

Garcia's deportation was facilitated under the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th-century law recently invoked by the Trump administration to expedite the removal of illegal immigrants associated with foreign gangs. This move followed the administration's decision to label criminal cartels as terrorist organizations. However, the Supreme Court has since halted the use of this law for deportations pending ongoing cases.

The court also requested the administration to facilitate Garcia's return to the US, following an admission of an administrative error in his removal process. This error involved deporting Garcia to El Salvador instead of another location, despite his eligibility for deportation and his expressed fear of returning to El Salvador due to gang-related threats to his mother's business.

Despite the Supreme Court's request, both Trump and El Salvadors President Nayib Bukele have defended Garcia's deportation, citing him as a national security threat. Garcia, who has tattoos indicating his affiliation with MS-13, has previously been suspected of human trafficking. In 2021, his wife sought a protection order against him due to domestic violence.

Senator Van Hollen's efforts to advocate for Garcia's return during a visit to El Salvador were met with resistance. Salvadoran Vice President Flix Ulloa stated that the country would not assist in returning Garcia to the U.S.. Van Hollen also faced backlash for photographs showing him dining with Garcia at a restaurant in El Salvador. Bukele shared these photos on social media, sarcastically commenting, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, miraculously risen from the death camps & torture, now sipping margaritas with Sen. Van Hollen in the tropical paradise of El Salvador!"

The ongoing debate surrounding Garcia's deportation and potential return to the US raises questions about the effectiveness of current immigration policies and the handling of individuals with suspected criminal affiliations.
