In a recent appearance on Fox News Channel's "Jesse Watters Primetime," Kevin McCarthy, the former Speaker of the House, shared his observations on the evolving dynamics within the Democratic Party.
McCarthy highlighted the ascent of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as a prominent figure, suggesting she is poised to take on a leadership role within her party.
According to Breitbart, McCarthy foresees an impending internal conflict, with Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) potentially challenging established Democratic leaders such as President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
McCarthy remarked, "[T]he DNC is supposed to unite the party, but what were watching live is a civil war inside the Democratic Party, and theyre fighting for new leadership." He further noted Ocasio-Cortez's significant fundraising prowess, stating, "She raised the most money of any member in Congress in the last quarter. Shes getting the biggest crowds."
McCarthy elaborated on his prediction, asserting, "Theyre going to fight to see who becomes the leader of this party. Right now, its really AOC and Bernie Sanders." He speculated that this internal struggle could lead to Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders running against key Democratic figures, which he believes will serve as a "motivating factor" for fundraising.
McCarthy concluded that the outcome of this contest could determine the future leadership of the Democratic Party, emphasizing that the competition within the party might prove more lucrative than opposing Republicans.
