Schumer Drops Bombshell: Thinks Republicans Will 'Ditch' Trump Over THIS...

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed optimism on CNN's "Inside Politics" regarding the potential for Republicans to challenge President Donald Trump by supporting the Trade Review Act of 2025.

This proposed legislation seeks to mandate a joint resolution of approval for new tariffs while empowering Congress to terminate tariffs through a resolution of disapproval.

During the program, host Dana Bash highlighted the bipartisan nature of the bill, introduced by veteran Republican Senator Chuck Grassley and Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell. Bash noted Grassley's assertion that the bill is essential to "reassert Congresss constitutional role and ensure Congress has a voice in trade policy." She inquired about the likelihood of the bill's passage.

According to Breitbart, Schumer responded, "Look, it has good bipartisan support. I think its a very good bill. Its the first time we have seen some Republicans buck Donald Trump. Theyve all too often gone along with him, even when they know his policies are dead wrong. So I welcome it, and I hope it could it could pass. Its a bipartisan bill, and it shows you how bad these tariffs are. Even Republicans who have been so afraid to break with Trump, some of the leading Republicans are, and they deserve some credit for that on this bill."

The introduction of this bill marks a significant moment in the ongoing debate over trade policy, as it reflects a rare instance of bipartisan cooperation in a deeply divided political landscape. The willingness of some Republicans to diverge from the President's stance on tariffs underscores the growing concern over the economic impact of such measures.
