Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York are tapping into the allure of the entertainment industry for their upcoming "Fighting Oligarchy" rally, slated to take place at Los Angeles' Grand Park later this month.

This event aims to draw attention by featuring a lineup of notable performers, including Canadian-born Neil Young, Joan Baez, Maggie Rogers, Indigo de Souza, Jeff Rosenstock, the Red Pears, and the Raise Gospel Choir.

According to Variety, these artists are among those expected to participate in the rally, which is set to express opposition to President Donald Trump through various forms of artistic expression. The publication highlights the enthusiasm of the performers, particularly Jeff Rosenstock, who took to social media to express his excitement: ME BERNIE AOC & NEIL YOUNG CHOPPIN IT UP.

He further commented, All weed jokes aside, it has been easy to feel powerless and alone since the election and seeing the massive crowds of people who are also tired of this bullshit attending these events (cornball alert) has filled my heart with hope. I woulda been here anyway so like I said in CAPS LOCK above I am beyond honored to be a part of this playing some songs. SHOW UP EARLY AND WATCH ME TRY MY BEST LOL.

The Los Angeles rally is part of Sanders' "Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here" tour, which has previously made stops in cities such as Las Vegas, Tucson, Denver, and Tempe. Despite its focus on Republican-majority areas, the tour has chosen to include the predominantly liberal Los Angeles. Upcoming events are scheduled for Bakersfield and Auburn in California, as well as Salt Lake City, Nampa, Idaho, and Missoula, Montana.

In addition to the musical performances, Representatives Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Ro Khanna of California are also set to address attendees in Los Angeles, as reported by Variety. Sanders' website claims that the tour has attracted 107,981 attendees across seven states, with livestreams garnering over five million views.

While the rally seeks to galvanize support against what Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez perceive as oligarchic influences, it also underscores the ongoing cultural and political divide in the United States. The choice to hold the event in Los Angeles, a city known for its progressive leanings, reflects a strategic effort to rally support in areas traditionally aligned with liberal values.
