Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur, has criticized the orchestrators of the anti-Trump protests that took place over the weekend.
He expressed his views after a video went viral, showing protesters struggling to articulate why they perceive President Donald Trump as a "fascist.".
Musk took to social media on Sunday, sharing the video and commenting, "The problem is the puppetmasters, not the puppets, as the latter have no idea why they are even there." The video depicted protesters grappling with their reasons for labeling Trump as a "fascist." One protester, holding a sign that read, "The Fascist Trump Regime Must Go," stumbled over his words, saying, "He just does everything he wants He's a convicted felon, you know, that's all I know."
According to Fox News, the video was recorded by Ted Goodman, a political strategist who recently initiated a livestream program with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The recording took place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
When another protester was asked to provide evidence of Trump's alleged "fascism," he responded, "One of the things is he's trying to control the media." Goodman retorted, "Doesn't every president try to control the narrative?" The protester continued, "They try to control their own narrative. But one of the things that Trump has done, for example, is the renaming the Gulf of Mexico and then not allowing the Associated Press to come into the White House."
The protesters' motivations varied. One admitted he was there because he "saw people were hanging out," while another cited "executive overreach." The first protester was given a sign labeling Trump as a "fascist" and a printed sheet that read, "We are facing fascism The time to act is now!" The sheet also featured a manipulated image of Trump with a Hitler-style mustache.
The video quickly gained traction, amassing over 12 million views by Sunday afternoon.
Nationwide, more than 1,200 protests took place on Saturday. Critics gathered to voice their opposition to the administration, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), reciprocal tariffs, federal layoffs, and immigration reform.
One protester at a New York demonstration told Fox News Digital, "[Im] protesting how horrible things have become in our country. I mean, we've been taken over by a bunch of robber barons who are trying to take away all of our rights, benefits and liberty." Another protester expressed concern over the state of democracy in the country, stating, "I am protesting what is happening with this blessed country, the democracy that was advanced democracy now in transition to a dictatorship, and we are almost in a fascist state right now only because the rule of law is bending right now, and it may break."
These protests followed a series of mass demonstrations against Tesla the previous weekend. Musk, a staunch Trump ally who is also leading the DOGE and serves as the CEO of Tesla, has faced physical attacks, monetary boycotts, and protests against his company due to his political stance.
Musk questioned the funding and organization of these protests, asking, "Who is funding and organizing all these paid protests?" Speculation has arisen among local news outlets, media personalities, and conservative critics that the anti-Tesla protests may be a case of "astroturfing," a term defined by Merriam-Webster as a campaign "falsely made to appear grassroots."
