WATCH: Alec Baldwin Makes OUTRAGEOUS Claims About The 'Political Climate' In America!

In a recent Instagram video, actor Alec Baldwin expressed his belief that the United States is currently engulfed in a "pre-Civil War" cultural atmosphere.

Baldwin shared his thoughts with followers after an unplanned decision to watch Ken Burns' acclaimed PBS documentary, "The Civil War," upon returning from an international trip. The documentary provides a comprehensive account of the American Civil War.

According to The Post Millennial, Baldwin recounted how an inexplicable urge led him to "pick up the remote and turn on" his television to view the series. "Something told me, something led my hand to pick up the remote and turn on my television and watch Ken Burns' famous miniseries," Baldwin stated. He drew parallels between the current political climate and the period preceding the Civil War, while acknowledging the "profound differences" between the two eras.

Baldwin elaborated on these differences, noting the historical context of "cotton, and slavery, and Lincoln, and Robert E. Lee and so forth." However, he emphasized the political similarities, observing the entrenched divisions within the nation. "I look at the politics of it, of where people are in this country today, in the division and how they're holding-fast, and no one's going to falter, no one's going to break or compromise. And it's bad," he remarked.

Despite the grim outlook, Baldwin expressed skepticism about the possibility of national unity, stating that it "doesn't seem likely right now" for the country to come together.

Reflecting on the documentary, he noted, "Watching this show ['The Civil War'] really reminded me how we are in a very similar state now, in a pre-Civil War culture, in a pre-Civil War environment It's hard to believe." He concluded by urging others to watch the miniseries, highlighting its relevance to contemporary issues.
