Donald Trump, the President of the United States, recently attended the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia.
Among the select few who had the privilege of accompanying him on Air Force One was Clay Travis, the founder of OutKick, a sports website.
This marked a significant milestone for OutKick, as it became the first sports website to be included in the White House Press Pool, according to RedState.
The journey to the wrestling tournament wasn't just a historic moment for OutKick, but also an opportunity for Travis to engage in a candid conversation with Trump. The two discussed a variety of topics, but one that has garnered considerable attention is Trump's advice for Kamala Harris, the failed presidential candidate rumored to be considering a run for the governorship of California.
Trump, known for his media savvy, offered some advice to Harris, who had a notably lackluster performance in her presidential campaign. He suggested that she should engage more with the media, stating, "Let her run. I dont want to be [giving] people advice politically, but one thing shes gotta start doing is shes gotta start giving interviews."
He further noted that former President Joe Biden managed to avoid media interviews during the COVID-19 pandemic, but warned that such a strategy might not work for everyone. "What they were doing didnt work, he added.
Harris's media engagement during her campaign was notably sparse. She failed to secure an appearance on the highly popular Joe Rogan podcast, a platform that Trump utilized effectively. Trump also praised his youngest son, Barron, for his adeptness with new media and for encouraging him to leverage it as much as possible.
Trump's vice-presidential pick, JD Vance, was a significant asset to his campaign, appearing on numerous media outlets to defend his boss. In contrast, Harris's choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate seemed to have been a misstep. Walz, who had several missteps on the campaign trail, was arguably a detriment to her chances. He has since expressed frustration with the campaign's decision to limit his media appearances.
Since her defeat in the presidential race, Harris has maintained a low profile, holding no formal interviews and making only a few public appearances. Despite this, she continues to harbor political ambitions, as evidenced by her rumored consideration for the California governorship.
However, Trump's advice, while astute, may not be enough to transform Harris into a viable candidate. While California's voters may be eccentric enough to elect her as governor, her chances at the national level seem slim. This is why Trump, and perhaps many conservatives, would welcome her candidacy in the 2028 presidential race. The prospect of Harris running for president again could potentially offer an opportunity for conservatives to regain the White House.
