The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at bolstering the quality and safety of infant formula in the United States.

Under the guidance of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to launch "Operation Stork Speed." This project is designed to ensure the "ongoing quality, safety, nutritional adequacy, and resilience of the domestic infant formula supply."

As reported by Breitbart, the initiative will involve a comprehensive nutrient review process and increased testing for heavy metals and other contaminants in infant formula. Notably, the FDA has not conducted a thorough review of infant formula nutrients since 1998. Secretary Kennedy emphasized the importance of this endeavor, stating, "The FDA will use all resources and authorities at its disposal to make sure infant formula products are safe and wholesome for the families and children who rely on them." He further highlighted the significance of supporting families from birth as part of the broader mission to "Make America Healthy Again."

In addition to these measures, the FDA is encouraging companies to innovate by developing new infant formulas and educating consumers about the ingredients. Acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner underscored the agency's commitment to ensuring the safety and availability of infant formula.

She remarked, "The FDA is deeply committed to ensuring that moms and other caregivers of infants and young children and other individuals who rely on infant formula for their nutritional needs have confidence that these products are safe, consistently available, and contain the nutrients essential to promote health and wellbeing during critical stages of development and life." This initiative reflects a concerted effort to provide the rising generation with the nourishment necessary for a healthy and long life.
