WATCH: Newt Gingrich's Take On Elon Musk's Disillusionment With Democrats!

Newt Gingrich, former Republican House Speaker, recently voiced his concerns on Fox News about the implications of Elon Musk's growing disillusionment with the Democratic Party.

Gingrich, during his appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime," underscored the significance of this development in the context of American politics, particularly in light of the turbulent last two years of the Biden administration. He expressed his belief that the current trajectory of the Democratic Party is leading the nation to a "dead-end."

Gingrich stated, I think its for a good reason. The Democrats went nuts, and Elon has been pretty open about this. When you look at their policies, you look at their values. They are a dead end for America. He further elaborated, I think he genuinely came to believe in the last two years of the Biden administration that they were so crazy. They were so out of control that you really had to do something very dramatic to get control of the government.

According to the Daily Caller, Gingrich also referred to a recent poll by Americas New Majority Project, which revealed that a staggering 82% of Americans view Washington as corrupt. He emphasized, Its going to be challenging, but on the other hand 82% of the American people think that Washington is corrupt. Think about that. You know, eight out of every 10 Americans, according to an Americas New Majority Project poll, eight out of 10 think their government is corrupt.

Gingrich also expressed his concerns about Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's decision to obstruct efforts to keep the government running. He stated, And you cant survive as a free society. If you have a government which is so despised by your own people. And thats why I think what Schumer announced today that hes going to not help keep the government open. Hes going to stand and fight. Hes on the wrong side of history, and the American people know it. The American people want this government to be smaller. The American people want something like DOGE [Department of Government Efficiency].

Schumer's stance has raised the possibility of a government shutdown by the end of the week, as Senate Democrats refuse to provide the necessary votes to approve the funding agreement passed by the House. Without some Democratic support, the government faces a shutdown as Friday draws to a close.

Gingrich also discussed the issue of rampant government spending, admitting that the situation is worse than he had initially thought. He said, Every time Elon releases another set of really stupid spending, I think people look around and go, Wow, you know, they kind of knew it was bad, but even as much as Ive studied the government, I didnt know it was this sick and had this many things that are totally indefensible.'

Musk, who was appointed as chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by President Donald Trump, has claimed that DOGE has successfully identified $1 trillion in wasted funds.

However, his criticism of the Democratic Party as being dominated by unions and trial lawyers, along with his commitment to promoting free speech on Twitter, now known as X, during his $44.3 billion acquisition, has sparked controversy. Liberal media figures and Democratic legislators, including MSNBC host Joy Reid, have raised concerns about Musk's intentions, with Reid accusing him of longing for the apartheid era of the 1980s South Africa.
