Three Democrat-run states have begun to stockpile abortion pills after a ruling out of Texas halted the U.

S. Food and Drug Administrations (USDA) approval of mifepristone. This drug is the first drug of a two-drug abortion regimen.

Breitbart reports that the pro-choice governors of California and Massachusetts have been stockpiling these pills since the ruling. It appears that they are highly concerned that the availability of abortion pills is very much in question. Even the Governor of Washington (also a Democrat) seems to be making moves to try to stockpile these abortion pills now as well.

When it is all said and done, the three states will have stockpiled millions of these pills for future usage.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) already put out a statement that says that his state has secured millions of the mifepristone pills to help end the lives of millions of unborn children. Misoprostol is a drug used to help prevent stomach ulcers, but it is also the second drug in a two-drug regimen used to end an unwanted pregnancy.

Officials in California spoke with NPR and stated that the state has 250,000 pills currently on reserve at approximately $100,000.

According to Boston.com, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) said her state has stockpiled approximately 15,000 piles. That is believed to be about one years worth.

Governor Healey stated in a tweet: Mifepristone is safe and effective. Its been the gold standard for over two decades, and Were keeping it available in Massachusetts no matter what some extremist, Trump-appointed judge in Texas says.

The Governor said the University of Massachusetts purchased the pills at her request. She said she would also issue an executive order confirming protections for medication abortion, including mifepristone, under existing law.

Breitbart reports that Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) also instructed the Department of Corrections to use their pharmaceutical license to purchase the pills. Based on reporting by NPR, they have acquired 30,000 doses of the drug, which is believed to be approximately a three-year supply for the state. The state received its stockpile on March 31.

On top of that, Governor Inslee reports that the University of Washington obtained another 10,000 pills. That is estimated to be another years worth of drugs for the state.

According to the NPR report: Inslees office says about 800 abortions per month, or 60 percent of abortions in the state, take place using pills.
