According to a police report reviewed by The Post, a Target security guard punched a customer during a confrontation that originated when she requested "reparations" while at a checkout line, carrying groceries valued at over $1,000.

The incident took place in October at the megastore in Blue Ash, Ohio, and began when Karen Ivery inquired the cashier for the manager concerning the bill and reparations.

As stated in the report, the cashier claimed that Ivery brought up reparations several times throughout their brief encounter before the manager arrived. The customer allegedly asked for reparations and became irate as she marched "aggressively" toward the manager during her conversation with him, as per the report.

Although Zach Cotter, a loss prevention officer, attempted to intervene and requested that Ivery remain calm and leave the store, she supposedly began to yell at him and followed him to his office. As per the report, when he attempted to shut the door, Ivery allegedly forced her way in, and Cotter threw a punch.

Surveillance footage of this incident, as reported on by the Daily Mail, demonstrates how the staff member's punch caused the woman to collapse.

Authorities wrote that they established Ivery as the "aggressor" once they examined the footage of the occurrence, and therefore they placed her under arrest. The report also stated that Ivery was confrontational with the officers on the scene and refused to explain her actions.

In recent years, reparations involving a government entity or other institution providing money or funding to individuals of color who are either descendants of slaves or marginalized in another way, have been a subject of intense discussion.

In a YouTube video of the incident, Ivery mentioned that she wanted the cashier to contact the manager "so we could have a larger conversation about how money works, and how the provision works, and how it's been working in our community in a very wrong way." "This is my Rosa Parks moment," she added.

Ivery was sentenced to a day in jail and charged $110 for disorderly conduct, according to the Daily Mail. When contacted by The Post, a Target spokesperson refused to comment on the incident and advised seeking information from the police.
