The husband of Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Chasten Buttigieg, took to Twitter to taunt those protesting that Bud Light cans now have a rainbow put on them to represent transgender rights.
Anheuser-Busch chose to make transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney the star of one of its latest commercials, and this set off many people who drink their beer.
Chasten Buttigieg took to Twitter to mock those who decided to boycott Bud Light from now on because he thought it was simply ridiculous that people took such a strong stance against this.
To make this point, Chasten tweeted: If youre upset about a beer company supporting civil rights, you might want to start bottling your tears, and LGBTQ people drink water, too. Gonna boycott that next?
The company decided to put rainbows on the Bud Light cans and to celebrate Mulvaneys 365 days of girlhood.
Fox News reports that the announcement to do this received much criticism from the public. Some said that it was just another attempt for a company to pivot and try to become politically correct.
To respond to this, rock legend Kid Rock set fire to several cans of Bud Light in a video that went viral on social media.
Country star Travis Tritt said he would drop Bud Light from all hospitality riders for his show. He no longer wants to have those cans in the rooms where he prepares for his performances.
Buttigiegs tweet also got a lot of criticism.
One Twitter user said, Goodness, this is a stupid tweet.
Another Twitter user said: So civil rights for you consists of a man taking a womans position because he perpetuates the most regressive stereotypes of what a misogynist thinks it means to be a woman? [Dually] noted.
Fox News reports that Buttigieg recently went after the GOP for banning explicitly sexual books in school libraries nationwide. Those books are sometimes accessible to young children, and many parents think it is terrible that children have access to them.
In March, Buttigieg went on The View to say that now is a very dangerous time in America.
He said: Its been a very well-coordinated, well-funded effort to attack the LGBTQ+ community, specifically with the book bans. Regardless, many are not impressed by the tweets that Buttigieg had to put out about this controversy. They disagree that they shouldnt be protesting Bud Light.
