Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla, has expressed his willingness to appear on "The Daily Show," albeit with a stipulation.
Responding to a fan's suggestion on his social media platform, X, Musk stated, "I will do it if the show airs unedited." This declaration from the 53-year-old business magnate quickly garnered attention, prompting an enthusiastic reply from the political show's official account: "Wed be delighted!"
As reported by The New York Post, Musk's interaction with "The Daily Show" comes on the heels of an incident involving the show's host, Jon Stewart. During a recent episode, Stewart became visibly agitated over budget cuts to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), leading to an unfortunate mishap where he injured his hand by slamming a coffee cup on his desk. In a gesture of goodwill, Musk offered to send Stewart some DOGE merchandise to aid in his recovery, writing on X, "I will send him some @DOGE merch to comfort him while he recovers from this injury."
The DOGE merchandise, part of a collection that includes T-shirts and other items emblazoned with the president's likeness, has been a recent addition to the Trump official store. This store also features a variety of products, such as $55 MAGA baseball caps and $180 Trump-branded pickleball paddles. Over the weekend, the store introduced DOGE membership cards priced at $47 each.
Musk's engagement with the situation extended beyond mere merchandise offerings. He later posted a bullseye emoji in response to a user's comment that suggested Democrats' animosity towards him was self-destructive. The SpaceX founder further commented on Stewart's injury, describing it as indicative of "anger management issues."
During the contentious episode, Stewart voiced his desire for the Department of Government Efficiency to collaborate with a more streamlined government. "I want to get rid of the alphabet agencies that dont do enough," he asserted. "Make the Pentagon pass an audit. But we are DOGE-ing in the wrong place if we want to really change the system."
