In a move that has raised eyebrows, Democrats in Congress have enlisted the services of "emotion regulation" experts to navigate the challenges posed by the new Trump administration.
President Trump has wasted no time in implementing executive orders aimed at reversing what he perceives as the shortcomings of the previous Democratic leadership.
As reported by The Post Millennial, during a mid-January retreat for Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) invited psychologist Jim Coan and consultant Hal Movius to provide guidance. Movius, known for his expertise in "emotional regulation," "negotiation," "influence," and "organizational development," offered insights on managing conflict and countering "authoritarian styles of speech," according to Punchbowl News. Attendees were advised to steer clear of partisan disputes within the committee.
When questioned about the decision to bring in psychologists, Raskin explained, Theyre social psychologists, and they were just talking about communication and authoritarian styles of speech in the Trump age." He further elaborated that the session focused on communication strategies during the Trump era. Raskin, who will serve as the leading Democrat on the Judiciary Committee alongside Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), appears to be adopting a more restrained approach compared to his tenure on the Oversight Committee, where he frequently sparred with Chairman James Comer (R-KY).
Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, remarked on the Democrats' retreat, stating, "This is only President Trump's first week in office, and he's already broken the House Democrats' brains again. They're already calling their shrinks." This development underscores the heightened tensions and strategic recalibrations taking place as the new administration takes shape.
