In a candid discussion with Jon Stewart, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) openly criticized her fellow Democrats for engaging in insider trading within Congress.

She highlighted the "hypocrisy" prevalent among Democratic lawmakers, a sentiment that resonated with Stewart, who expressed relief at hearing someone finally address the issue.

As reported by The Post Millennial, Ocasio-Cortez appeared on The Weekly Show to discuss various topics, including the election of Donald Trump and the need for Democrats to "walk the walk." She emphasized, "There needs to be Democrats who walk the walk and talk the talk. There is an insane amount of hypocrisy, and the hypocrisy is what gets exploited to use the cynicism and wherever theres a hypocritical window. For example, I think one of the biggest examples of this is insider trading in Congress.

The congresswoman, along with others, has advocated for a ban on stock trading by elected officials to curb insider trading practices. She remarked, Its so crazy. I mean, like, its the end of the thing. Like, people think that every day people are stupid. Im like, do you all really think that people dont see this sh*t?'

Stewart further elaborated on the issue, noting that lawmakers have the advantage of "sit[ting] on a committee" to access privileged information about impending business deals and government contracts, which they can then exploit to enhance their investment portfolios. Ocasio-Cortez added, "And then we're supposed to act like money only corrupts Republicans? Give me a f*cking break."

The conversation also touched upon accusations against Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) regarding her alleged involvement in such trading activities. Notably, trading software based on Pelosi's investment actions is available for purchase. Stewart pointed out that lawmakers effectively "run the casino," regulating industries where they stand to gain financially. This discussion underscores the pressing need for transparency and accountability in Congress to uphold the integrity of public office.
