In a recent episode of The View, co-host Joy Behar expressed her deep-seated concern over the imminent end of President Joe Biden's tenure.
The episode, which aired on the morning after Biden's farewell address on January 15, saw Behar and her fellow hosts dissecting the outgoing President's remarks. Biden, in his address, had subtly criticized President-elect Donald Trump and expressed his apprehensions about the threats to American democracy from an "oligarchy" of the super-rich, as reported by The Decider.
Behar, visibly moved by a short clip of Biden's address, admitted to feeling a sense of loss at his impending departure. "I miss him already. I miss him," she confessed. "He's a good person. You know, he spent the last 50 years caring about the country." She contrasted Biden's dedication to the nation with the actions of his successor, whom she refrained from naming directly. "This other one spent 50 years scamming everybody and trying to stay out of jail. You know who Im talking about," she said.
The co-host continued to express her anxiety about the future under the new administration. "I feel like we were safe, like, I didnt have to worry everything would blow up. I could live my life while he was there. Now every day I wake up and I worry, What is this guy gonna do next?'" she said.
Behar also echoed Biden's concerns about the ultra-wealthy, insisting that the likes of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk "need to start shelling their money out." She questioned their apparent belief in their own immortality, reminding them, "You know, everybody dies. I hate to break it to them, but you are not gonna live forever."
She then highlighted a statistic from the World Food Program, which suggests that world hunger could be eradicated by 2030 with a $40 billion investment. Behar pointed out that Musk's net worth increased by $170 billion in the month following the election, a fact that seemed to incense her. "Nothing is done with that money to help people. Its just to increase their power," she lamented.
