The tragic New Year's Day incident involving Matthew Livelsberger, a Green Beret and Cybertruck bomber, has taken a new turn.
It has emerged that his wife, Jennifer Davis, severed ties with him just six days before the horrifying event that saw him detonate himself and the Tesla vehicle outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas.
According to The Post Millennial, sources privy to the investigation revealed that the couple's split was precipitated by an argument over alleged infidelity on Livelsberger's part. The couple, who share a baby daughter, had their fallout the day after Christmas. Following the breakup, Livelsberger left Colorado and rented the Cybertruck that would later become the instrument of his demise.
The former Green Beret drove the rented vehicle to the Trump hotel, shot himself in the head, and detonated explosives in the truck's bed, according to police reports. Sheriff Kevin McMahill stated that while substantial evidence points to Livelsberger as the driver, the body was so severely burned that officials are still awaiting confirmation through DNA testing or medical records. Identification was made possible through tattoos, photos taken at charging stations, a passport, and a drivers license.
At the time of the incident, Livelsberger was an active-duty Green Beret on approved leave from Germany. In the days leading up to his death, he sent a series of peculiar text messages to his ex-girlfriend, Alicia Arritt, about the Cybertruck. Arritt, who dated Livelsberger between his first and second marriages from 2018 to 2021, shared screenshots of the conversation with reporters. In one message, Livelsberger wrote, "I rented a Tesla Cybertruck. It's the sh*t." In another, he stated, "I feel like Batman or halo," referencing the popular video game.
The incident left Livelsberger's family in shock, as they described him as a "big Trump supporter" and a military enthusiast, according to the Daily Mail. His uncle, Dean Livelsberger, portrayed him as a "Rambo-type" and "100 percent a patriot." Dean expressed his bewilderment at Livelsberger's use of a rudimentary explosive setup, given that he was a "very skilled warrior" capable of creating a more "sophisticated" explosive. The explosive devices found in the car included gasoline, mortars, and fireworks. The blast injured seven bystanders, with Livelsberger being the sole fatality.
Federal authorities are investigating the bombing as a politically motivated act, given its location outside the Trump hotel and the use of a Tesla, a brand closely associated with Elon Musk, who has been actively involved with Trump this election cycle. However, the FBI has found no "definitive link" between Livelsberger's act and the New Orleans terrorist, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, despite both serving at the same military base. Jabbar drove into a crowd in New Orleans on New Year's Day, killing over a dozen and injuring dozens more. He had posted a series of videos to Facebook prior to the attack, revealing his ISIS-inspired motives. The motive behind Livelsberger's act, on the other hand, remains unclear.
