The infamous Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, is reportedly preparing to exploit the anticipated changes in U.S. border enforcement policies come January 20.
The gang is allegedly planning to infiltrate as many of its members into the United States as possible before the impending policy shift.
Members of the Tren de Aragua gang, armed with knives, have been swarming border crossings at El Paso, Texas, in a bid to gain entry into the U.S. The gang has reportedly threatened to assault border guards who attempt to thwart their efforts, as revealed in a startling memo from the Texas Department of Public Safety, leaked to The Post.
Just last week, 20 gang members, armed with blades, tire irons, and broken liquor bottles, attempted to force their way into the U.S. at a border gate, according to the memo. This aggressive behavior is reminiscent of an armed incursion by foreign invaders, albeit irregular ones. It is clear that the gangs and cartels facilitating illegal border crossings are aware of the impending change in administration.
According to Victor Avila, a retired agent for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the notorious prison gang is becoming increasingly desperate to infiltrate more members into the U.S. before President-elect Donald Trump assumes office. "Youre seeing that violence at the border because they know that its going to change in 27 days. Its going to change. Its going to be different, and theyre going to be sought after, he told The Post, as reported by RedState.
Texas authorities were tipped off about the gang's attempts to force their way into the U.S. by an anonymous informant, who warned that the violent border break-ins by the gang would persist nightly around 3 a.m.
Avila's statement, "they're going to be sought after," raises hopes that this could mean a crackdown on Tren de Aragua members, given the gang's notorious reputation. However, Avila has issued a more ominous warning, linking the gang's escalating violence to an anti-American ideology akin to terrorist groups.
I think that TdA is coming in with an instruction from their home country. And I think that their ideology is more of a terrorist ideology of destruction, Avila said. They hate the United States just like terrorists do and they will kill, destroy, take over businesses, take over stores and take over apartment complexes, do whatever they have to do to destroy our way of life in the U.S., he added.
If Avila's assertions are accurate, and the Venezuelan government is indeed orchestrating this, it necessitates a direct response to the Venezuelan regime and President Nicols Maduro. However, the immediate priority remains securing the border, which is currently under siege.
Illegal immigrants continue to flood into the United States, with the Tren de Aragua gang constituting just a fraction of the problem. In the fiscal year 2024 alone, nearly three million illegal immigrants crossed into the United States, with an estimated two million more entering undetected. These individuals originate from various regions, including Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa, the Caribbean, and notably, China.
These individuals enter the U.S. illegally and, even when apprehended, are typically issued a notice to appear before being released, after which they vanish. The U.S. is home to millions of illegal immigrants, with little to no knowledge of their whereabouts or activities.
This predicament, years in the making, will likely take years to resolve and is expected to yield bitter consequences before it is fully addressed. The blame for this crisis can, and should, be attributed to the Biden administration and its ineffective border policies.
